Wires, Wires, and More Wires

This week we have more of an update than anything else as I’ve been a bit busy.

As I’ve previously mentioned I purchased a JAMMA harness from Amazon just a few weeks ago. When it arrived, it looked like this:

This week I decided to remove some of the zip ties to get an idea of how long the harness is and what I might have to do before using it. Once I unrolled it, it looked like this:

As you can see it’s pretty long. The speaker wires are over six feet long and the longest ones in the whole harness. However, I believe this is due to the fact that typical modern arcade machine cabinets have their speakers at the top of the display. The machine may also use an old school CRT or some other display system that needs longer wiring for the speakers.

Now that I’ve got the whole thing opened up, my next task will be to trace the wires and setup some kind of organization to the whole thing so I can hook it up safely. While the voltage isn’t that high electrical issues still hurt people and could potentially destroy other electronics.
